Fun in the sun

Well its just so hot and we needed some hats. And here is what I came up with using some old dresses and bits of fat quarters hanging around waiting for a purpose in life.

And of course we needed a Dino hat as well.

There is some work to do

So, we’ve been doing some work, sifting and checking and well, it needs some work! Fabulously it is made from cedar wood which has been exposed to the elements (in the form of a climbing frame for 15 years). A few layers of planing, sanding and there is beautiful wood underneath. Some of the beams need more work than others. Some of the ones on the ground need replacing others need fixing.

Recycling project and a half

So we decided we needed a climbing frame. And there are many around the are no longer needed. So this is what we found. Looks nice right?

So we brought it home and this is how it looks:

There is some work to do if we want this up and climbable for the summer.

The kids drew some gingerbread men so we decided to bring them to life…

His and his

From Santa’s workshop: Father and son pyjamas. Aren’t they cute? Got some bits of fabric left. Lets see what else can be done…

First overseas order

This gorgeous bag made to hold crochet tools and yarn was shipped off to the US – my first overseas order. I love this bag and it took me a while to put together. More plans in my head to make new ones after Santa’s little workshop comes to a rest for the festive season.

Old jeans new

Totally re-made from a pair of old jeans, an old shirt and re-used zips.

The left leg became this laptop carrier. So pleased with the handles and fits the laptop snugly. The only new part of this bag is the padding and the thread, naturally.

And this is what became of the right leg. A nice little laptop sleeve lined with an re-purposed sheet. New coordinating zip in this one though. The problem with re-using old zips is that the zips do end up being warped. I need to experiment with some starch to get those zips to lay flat – I don’t want to throw them out and metal zips seem to looks so nice in denim and other bags.

The shop is up and running!

Finally, after many months of planning, researching and implementing I’ve set up my shop selling crafty stuff on Etsy – I have rebranded to Edelweiss with my Etsy shop being named EdelweissCraft.

Its all very exciting – I just shipped out my first order on Friday. It should be hitting the doorstep of my very first customer soon so I am hoping for some very positive feedback!!! Can’t wait.

Thats why I’ve so little time for crafting but hopefully soon there will be more here. For now please check out the shop – there is a bit of stock there but there will be more sewing and crocheting items coming very soon!
